Hiring Manager Checklist: Vetting an Egyptian Cold Caller in 30 Minutes

If you only have 30 minutes to interview an Egyptian ISA candidate, here's exactly how to spend them. This is the framework our own admin team uses before adding anyone to the talent pool.

Minute 0–5: Setup signals

  • Camera on, laptop on a desk (not phone), USB headset, no echo. If any of these are off — already a yellow flag.
  • Confirm internet speed (Fast.com on a screenshare).

Minute 5–15: English under pressure

  • Ask them to summarize their last role in 60 seconds. You want clarity, not vocabulary.
  • Throw one curveball ("If a seller says 'my house isn't for sale, who gave you this number?', what's your next sentence?") — listen for composure, not the perfect script.

Minute 15–25: Role-play

  • Three live cold calls. You play three sellers: angry, curious, polite-but-busy.
  • You're scoring: tone, recovery from rejection, asking for the appointment.

Minute 25–30: Closing questions

  • "What's the longest you stayed in a US-account role?" — looking for ≥9 months.
  • "What did your manager say you needed to improve?" — looking for self-awareness, not "nothing".
  • "What hours can you commit to long-term?" — needs to match your shift.

Red flags to disqualify on

  • Reads the script word-for-word during role-play.
  • Blames every past employer.
  • Can't name a single CRM or dialer they've used.
  • Negotiates rate before you've made an offer.

Green flags to push forward

  • Asks YOU about your business in the last 5 minutes.
  • Recovers from your toughest seller line within one sentence.
  • Has a clear reason they want THIS shift and THIS pay band.
