Getting Paid in USD From Egypt: Payoneer, Wise or a Bank Transfer (2026)

Payoneer

Widely used by freelancers in Egypt. Your employer pays into your Payoneer USD receiving account, and you withdraw to your local bank. Check the fees to receive, convert and withdraw, and how long transfers take.

Wise

Known for low conversion costs in many countries. Check whether you can open an account as a resident of Egypt, whether your employer can pay you through it, and what it costs to get the money into your Egyptian bank.

A direct bank transfer

Your employer sends USD by international transfer (SWIFT) to a USD account at an Egyptian bank. Some employers prefer it. Expect transfer fees and a conversion margin; ask your bank what they charge.

What to compare

• The fee to receive money, and who pays it.
• The exchange rate you get compared with the market rate.
• Withdrawal fees, and how long money takes to reach you.
• Whether your employer can pay that way at all.

Before your first payday

Set up at least one option before you start, because verification can take days. Keep a simple record of every payment you receive.

Tax
